Notice: First Nations can now access their oil and gas information through Petrinex

What is Petrinex?

Petrinex is an online oil and gas industry reporting system that supports accurate and standardized reporting on production, volumes, and related information.

What Petrinex information can First Nations now access?

First Nation representatives can now access information entered into Petrinex by oil and gas companies active on their lands. Available information includes:

• volumetric reporting for well, pipelines and facilities
• valuation reporting
• cost and royalty reporting
• well and facility licencing, linkages and status
• other information

How is the information from Petrinex currently used?

Indian Oil and Gas Canada (IOGC) and provincial regulators use Petrinex to assess, verify and audit volumetric, royalty, well and facility information entered by oil and gas companies.

Why is this information important to First Nations?

Petrinex access can provide First Nation representatives with additional information on their oil and gas to inform decision-making such as:

• current and future economic development including oil and gas
• whether they would like to carry out a First Nation-initiated audit
• financial planning

Who and how can First Nations access their information?
